A primary school in Bishop’s Stortford has been able to stock up its library thanks to a donation from a local housing developer.

Bovis Homes, which is building nearby at its Stortford Fields development in the town, gifted £500 to Northgate Primary School to invest in new reading material.

The cash boost has allowed the school to purchase a range of additional books for pupils in Years 1 to 6.

The donation comes after Bovis Homes provided pupils at the school with reflective tags during Walk to School Month late last year (October 2021) to help them stay safe during the dark winter months.

Mrs Katy Jones, deputy headteacherat Northgate Primary School, said: We are delighted to have this money to put towards developing and upgrading the non-fiction areas in our KS1 and KS2 libraries. The books will enhance the learning around our topics and will give children access to a wide variety of different subjects.”

Jackie Keegan, sales manager at Stortford Fields, said: “It’s great to have worked with Northgate Primary School again to help provide a wider choice of reading materials for its pupils.

“As well as assisting their learning, we hope that these new additions to the library will encourage them to read more widely and further develop their passion for reading.”

Bovis Homes, which is part of the Vistry Group, is currently building a mix of two, three and four-bedroom homes at Stortford Fields, located off Hadham Road.
