Jennie and Pip Appleyard recently upsized from their terrace home in Birmingham to a three-bedroom, semi-detached house at Crest Nicholson’s Green Acres at Alrewas development in Staffordshire. The couple used Part Exchange to guarantee a buyer for their property and saved an additional £5,000 thanks to the Stamp Duty holiday.
Jennie, who works in finance for the NHS and teaches piano and cello on the side, explainsed: “We had been trying to sell our house for years and with our daughter Chloe (10) starting secondary school soon, we thought now was a good time to move. Being able to use the Part Exchange scheme made the entire process stress free, eliminating the delays that often occur with chains. We really appreciated the simplicity of the process.
“Another bonus of Part Exchange was not having to pay thousands in estate agent fees. Along with the money we saved from the Stamp Duty holiday, we were able to finally move out to the countryside, which had been our dream for the past 20 years, and into a bigger home.”
Green Acres features a range of two-, three-, four- and five-bedroom homes with large living areas and spacious gardens, making the development ideal for families. All homes have flexible layouts and have been designed to complement the surrounding village setting with high-specification finishes.
Jennie commented: “We really love the layout and proportions of our house, especially the separate kitchen/dining area. The flexible layout means we can use the separate area as either a social space or somewhere for Chloe to craft and play. I teach cello and piano at home, so having a separate lounge area gives me plenty of space to hold lessons. Upstairs, we’ve transformed the third bedroom into a study while I work from home, but it’s also a chill-out space, with a sofa bed and TV.”
Nestled within the Alrewas conservation area, with the River Trent and Mersey Canal just a short stroll away, the Appleyards are making the most of living near so much green space. Jennie commented: “We love that there are so many beautiful walks to take right on our doorstep. It feels like we’re able to discover something new each day.”
An excellent array of amenities can be found nearby including traditional pubs, a post office, Co-op general store, dentist, doctor surgery and popular butcher. For families, All Saints’ Primary School is located in the centre of the village, which feeds into John Taylor High School in Barton-under-Needwood, rated as ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted.
Green Acres also benefits from good travel connections, with both the A38 and A515 nearby, perfect for Jennie who would usually drive the 45 minute journey to work in West Bromwich. There are two train stations in the nearby historic city of Lichfield – Lichfield Trent Valley and Lichfield City – offering direct access to Birmingham in around 40 minutes and London Euston in an hour and 40 minutes.
Prices at Green Acres start from £280,000 for a two-bedroom home. A number of schemes are available on selected properties, including Part Exchange and SmoothMove. Find out more about Green Acres at Alrewas from Crest Nicholson.
