Moving house with two young children can be a challenge for any parents, but for Chris and Harriet Betts it couldn’t have been easier.
Relocating from Basingstoke to the outskirts of Southampton, the area where they first met, Chris and Harriet discovered Bovis Homes’ Boorley Park in the village of Botley.
“We met while at Southampton University and Chris grew up in Hampshire, so we already had a network of family and friends in the area,” says Harriet, an out-of-hours supervisor for the NHS. “We had bought a new-build home previously, so we were looking to buy new again and had a look around Botley. The village is just perfect for us – it’s just out of town, so there are still shops close by and it’s only 20 minutes into the centre of Southampton.
“As soon as we walked into the Bovis Homes sales centre, we knew we were in good hands. What really stood out for us was that everyone was really, really lovely!”
Chris, a sales executive for an electronics company, and Harriet selected the three-storey, three-bedroom Winchcombe house type and, along with their children three-year-old Aria and one-year-old Madeline, were among the first residents to move into the new development.
“The layout is perfect for us and it just seems to work so well with the kids. Having the separate sitting room on the middle floor and a large open-plan living area downstairs is great,” says Harriet. “We’ve already had friends over and sat outside in the garden and it’s just lovely.”
The three-storey Winchcombe house type has an open-plan kitchen and living area on the ground floor, with French doors leading out into the garden. On the second floor, there is a sitting room, a bedroom and a family bathroom. The top floor boasts a master bedroom with an en suite and built-in wardrobe and a further bedroom.
And it wasn’t only the house layout which suited the Betts family – Harriet felt that the design of Boorley Park itself was also ideal for children.
“It’s so quiet here and it feels really safe for kids. It’s very spacious and the front doors don’t lead straight out onto the road, which is good when you’ve got small children,” she says.
“We settled into our new home really quickly. Everyone is just so lovely and we felt so welcome straight away. Everyone on site waves and says “hello” and the site and sales team are just so polite, friendly and nice. Nothing is too much trouble and it has made us feel so welcome. We are just so happy here.”
Chris adds: “The experience we have had with Bovis Homes has been absolutely exceptional. Our sales advisor, Michelle, has been helpful, informative and friendly, and she’s always gone the extra mile for us.
“The site manager, James, has also been superb. We had a few small snags, which he addressed immediately and he has checked on us regularly and has kept us informed of anything which may affect us.
“Overall, the whole experience has been fantastic. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Bovis Homes to anyone. In fact, I recommended Bovis to a friend who has just purchased a property here!”
