Following recommendations from friends who had bought with Crest Nicholson, the first-time buyers decided to purchase a three bedroom ‘Hatfield’ at Crest Nicholson’s Hygge Park development, knowing it would be an ideal space to bring up their family. Now almost nine months on from moving in, the couple have been busy preparing for their new arrival and are expecting their first child in February next year.

More spaces for a growing family

“We previously lived in a small two-bedroom flat in Bath for four and a half years, so we knew having more space was essential for when our little one came along,” Ameneh, a Financial Services Administrator, explains.

“We now have plenty of indoor living space downstairs as well as an extra bedroom upstairs, so the floorplan gives us all the space and flexibility we need as a growing family. The second bedroom is great for when family and friends visit and we currently use the third bedroom as a home office, but we’re looking forward to converting it to a nursery ahead of the baby’s arrival!”

“We also love the outdoor space on our doorstep. We have our own private garden for the first time and the development itself is surrounded by plenty of open green space. Hygge Park has given us exactly what we envisioned for our family, and has significantly improved our quality of life, too.” 

An energy-efficient and cost-saving home

Not only has the family made progress in settling into their new home, but they’ve made some cost savings with their energy bills, also. Saeed shares: “We noticed some notable differences with our energy bills in our new build in a short space of time. In our flat, we were paying around £110 a month, which has nearly halved in our new home to around £67. Things like the double-glazed windows, and the design of the house have made a real difference in retaining heat.”

The energy-conscious couple were equally as impressed by the sustainability credentials of Crest Nicholson’s house types. Saeed adds: “As an engineer, having an energy efficient and eco-friendly home was really important to me, and something we were specifically looking out for during our house hunt. We’re hoping to get solar panels and EV charging points added to the house, in the future, too. Because of these enhancements, we can really see our house being our home for the long run.”

A family friendly environment

The family-oriented community was also a key attraction to Hygge Park. Ameneh comments: “There is a really nice community at the development; all of our neighbours are friendly and willing to help each other out – we often reminder each other of bin and recycling days! There are lots of other families who live here too, and the kids often play games in the street, which is lovely to see.”  

Keynsham itself also provides all the family friendly amenities thanks to the great local schools and nurseries. Ameneh adds: “Keynsham is a great location. Being equidistance between Bristol and Bath means there’s plenty of things to do and areas to explore at the weekend. All the shops we could need are right on our doorstep too, such as a B&Q, M&S, Next and Currys, for example. The local Waitrose is my personal favourite though – and it’s in walking distance!”
