Local retirees were invited to join star of The Great British Bake Off and baking expert, Val Stones, at McCarthy Stone’s Farnham House Retirement Living development in Quorn recently, as she shared top tips for Christmas cakes and bakes at the development for over-60s.

Known as the Cake Whisperer, she appeared on The Great British Bake Off in 2016 and joined the guests to demonstrate how to create the best festive treats for everyone to enjoy.

Cheryl Bissett, divisional sales and marketing director for recent WhatHouse? Award winner McCarthy Stone, said: “We were thrilled to welcome Val to Farnham House for an afternoon of Christmas baking. It was great to see her in action and get some inspiration for brightening up our traditional recipes, ready to treat visitors during the festive season.

Val Stones said: “Christmas is one of the best times of the year to indulge in special bakes. I really enjoyed sharing some of my favourite treats and tips with the guests and homeowners at Farnham House ahead of the traditional stir up Sunday date in November. I put together a special menu for everyone who attended, so we can all get into the swing of Christmas. What better way to celebrate?”

Farnham House offers a choice of thoughtfully designed one- and two-bedroom apartments.
