A new build home is a blank canvas on which to let your creativity run wild – especially if you have children! Decorating the little one’s room has to be the most fun part of moving into your new home, as there are endless possibilities for the decor, which all begin with a little imagination.

We’re taking a look at some of the most fun children’s showhome bedroom designs from HBF 5 star housebuilder, Bellway to help get your ideas flowing. You’ll almost wish that you were little again!

All things bright and beautiful

From the pom-pom caterpillar adorning the canopy bed, to the delightful reading corner, there’s so much to fall in love with in this bold children’s room in The Victoria, the 4-bedroom showhome at Winchburgh Grange in Winchburgh, West Lothian.

Colourful printed wallpaper provides the perfect backdrop to modern white furniture – and also makes it easy to change up the colour scheme in the future, as the little one grows.

Cool, calm and contemporary

Kid’s rooms don’t always need to be over-the-top to be adorable. An understated colour scheme of white and grey, with touches of yellow creates a calming space in which young minds can relax and unwind – but it has plenty of fun details too.

The room was designed by Birmingham-based interior designers blocc, who describe the design as ‘super cute with lots to inspire and fire the imagination’! It’s also easy to replicate, whilst being practical to a child’s needs.

“Lots of soft cushions and cuddly toys really make the room look friendly and inviting and the simple white wardrobe and chest provide practical storage,” blocc told us. “The highlight is the fun shaped bedframe that could either be a treehouse or a forest cabin with lots of scope for fun!”

To the moon and back!

For a child that needs their ‘space’, this bedroom design is just perfect!

Every aspiring astronaut would love this space-themed bedroom, which was designed by Q Interiors and can be found in The Peony 3-bedroom showhome at Bellway’s Havannah Park development in Hazlerigg, Newcastle upon Tyne. The amazing rocket-shaped headboard adds the ‘wow factor’, but you could achieve the same effect in your own home with a wall decal, or a hand-painted mural if you’re feeling artistic.

‘Hop’, skip and jump into bed

This characterful bedroom is all kinds of cute! Any little girl would love to snuggle up in this sweet room, which was created by Sunrise Interiors in Port Talbot, for The Wenvoe 4-bedroom showhome at Picklenash Grove in Newent, Gloucestershire.

Designed around a fabulous mural by a London Royal College of Art graduate, the ‘Busy Buzzy’ wallpaper adds lots of movement and colour whilst keeping the rest of the room quite simple. All that was needed were the perfect accessories, such as the lily pad rug, bird house-shaped shelves, and cuddly animals in their natural habitat.

And if you’d like to steal the style for your new home, try this fun tip:

“We used a printed wallpaper but you could hand paint a mural or decoupage the wall with cut out photographs of bugs and birds.  Choose a theme and let your imagination run wild!”

Quirky colour to break the rules

A child’s bedroom is the perfect place to break design rules! The yellow chest of drawers is the fun centrepiece to this quirky and colourful kid’s room in 3-bedroom showhome, The Rosewood at Buckland Rise in Wouldham, Kent.

Show Business Interiors in Crewe had a young, modern and quirky family in mind when they designed this room: “They are a bit eclectic in terms of style and certainly not afraid of colour”!

Be daring when designing your child’s room, and look for unusual and bold accessories to spark inspiration. And when in doubt, there are always pom-poms.
