Kevin Liddle and his family had outgrown their home and were on the lookout for something with more space when they discovered their dream home at David Wilson Homes’ development at Eskbank, Midlothian.

Kevin, his wife Lynn and their two sons, Kieran and Arran were bursting out of their 1930s bungalow in Liberton, in the south of Edinburgh, and decided it was time to start their house hunt in the winter of 2015.

Initially they were keen to stay within the local area and were delighted when they discovered that David Wilson Homes had started to build nearby, virtually across the road from their existing property at DWH @ Liberton Grange.

After enquiring about the new Liberton Grange development, the Liddle family were encouraged to pay a visit to Eskbank to see an example of the house builder’s homes. At this time the only available homes in the style they liked were on sale here or at the developer’s Haddington site. While neither locations were on the family’s radar to live in, they were keen to see the properties for themselves.

Sales advisor Charlotte Foggo met the family at DWH @ Eskbank in December 2015. While the family were adamant that Eskbank was not for them, they soon changed their minds.

Kevin said: “After viewing a Balbardie house type that was nearly complete it took us about 30 minutes to completely change our minds and we fell in love with the home and also the location!

“It was surprising as we’d never thought about Eskbank before, but the house and the surroundings were exactly what we were after.

“One of the swinging factors was also the opportunity for us to use David Wilson Homes’ Movemaker scheme which meant we wouldn’t have to deal with any of the normal costs that could have been a significant barrier to us getting this house type, so in January 2016 we paid our deposit and reserved our home.

“However, when we came to listing our existing property, it took longer than anticipated to sell. Charlotte and the team at David Wilson were extremely supportive though, and couldn’t have done more to help us. By March, when our home still hadn’t sold, it was David Wilson Homes who suggested using a different estate agent, one that they knew and could recommend.

“Unfortunately, because our house had failed to sell by April 2016 we lapsed on the reservation period on our new home at Eskbank and our original plot had to be put back on the market.

“When our house finally sold in May 2016, the team at David Wilson provided exactly the same level of excellent service as we received on day one and helped us through each stage of the buying process step by step. Even when outside the reservation period Charlotte kept in touch to hear about our progress

“David Wilson Homes’ Movemaker scheme was extremely helpful – it took all the stress out of moving as the team really took control of all the paperwork and costs involved. When we started looking at homes the cost of LBTT was a real concern, but thanks to the incentive offer that burden was eliminated.

“We moved in July 2016 and have been very happy so far. The rooms are much bigger than our old house and the boys now have plenty of space. The location is a little further out than we originally planned, however the train and bus links that are right outside the development mean that everyone can get in and out of town as often as they need without myself or my wife having to drive all the time. There is also an excellent bus service linking Eskbank to Penicuik for our sons’ school.
“David Wilson Homes couldn’t have done more for us and it was thanks to them that our move has gone so well.”

DWH @ Eskbank is situated in the picturesque area of Eskbank in Dalkeith, Midlothian. The town’s brand new train station, which was launched as part of the Borders Railway, is located just across the road from the development and means commuters can now travel between the town and Edinburgh Waverley Station in around 20 minutes.

If you’re interested in a four bedroom family home there are now just two left at this development. Prices start from £459,995.
