After years of paying rent for a London home, Laura Foulkes and her partner Matthew Deadman decided that is was time to “stop paying dead money” and get on the property ladder. With assistance from the government’s Help to Buy scheme, Laura and Matt were able to purchase their first home at Crest Nicholson’s Willow Reach in Woking, Surrey.
“We stumbled across Crest Nicholson online, and decided to pop into Willow Reach on our way back from another development in Guildford” recalled Laura. “We were both really impressed by the quality of the build, it was brilliantly located and had a homely and inviting feel.”
Keen to break the cycle of rent, a timely promotion and government assistance through Help to Buy helped Laura and Matthew to purchase their first home.
“We realised by combining our income and through the Help to Buy scheme we could afford a place of our own, and it made more sense to take that step rather than continue paying out on rent each month.”
Originally searching for a flat, Laura and Matt were impressed by the great value of homes at Willow Reach, “we were shocked to see that we could actually afford a house at Willow Reach and we both felt it was a better investment perfect for us to grow into over time.”
Moving out of London was not an issue for Laura and Matt, “We have a fantastic quality of life out here, as we live in a lovely and spacious three-bedroom house rather than a small house share. Also, we both work in London so don’t feel as though we are missing out” Laura commented. Set in the sought after town of Woking, Willow Reach is just a 20-minute walk from the town centre. Not too far away is the station with great links into London. “It is less than an hour into London, which when compared to some internal London commutes is great!” exclaimed Laura.
